Pour les spécialistes des Macrodontia: cette femelle de 67mm du Perou (San Martin / 1500m).
Avec la révision du genre (Marazzi et Pavesi 2008), j'arrive à M. batesi, le probléme c'est qu'il n'est pas connu du Pérou !!
L'aspect des elytres me laisse également perplexe sachant que j'ai également vu sur un autre site un mâle ayant les mêmes caractéristiques. |

I labelled this specimen as M.dejeani with a nagging doubt.
In fact, it belongs to a new species just described by Santos-Silva and published in the last Magellanes magazine.

After a thorough check of the mandibles beneath, it appears that this specie could belong to Dejeani group. The clypeus and the basal tooth positioning are little different between batesi and dejeani. In addition, M. dejeani is probably more widespread in central south america than M. batesi. Remains the unusual stripes pattern of elytrae !
