9,5 mm.
Hua Phan, nord-est Laos.

Probably Hirtaeschopalaea fasciculata Breuning, 1938 (Xenoleini) as the picture 37g in Gressitt (1970).
New for the forum.

510.11 KB
Male, 12 mm, Laos, Houaphan prov.; 2072 m.

358.3 KB
Male, 12 mm, Laos, Vientiane prov.; 2300 m.

3rd antennomera shorter than 4th, antennae more than two and a half times longer than the body, elytra punctate, this species is in fact Hirtaeschopalaea robusta Breuning, 1938.

According to Breuning (1950) , H. albolineata Pic, 1925 is smaller, with antennae only twice as long as the body, and the 3rd antennomere as long as the 4th.

I remember C.H. will describe a n. sp. of Hirtaeschopalae from N-Laos in his next paper, maybe its the same like yours Xavier, so you have to wait a bit.

L'espèce décrite par Holzschuh de Thailande (H. dorsana) ne semble pas correspondre (je ne vois pas de poils sur la photo).
Il reste l'espèce décrite par Pic ...
Hirtaeschopalea n. gen.
Capite exserto, oculis satis distantibus; antennis approximatis, longissimis (mâle) corpore longe superantibus (femelle), scapo sat breve, subclavato; thorace subcylindrico, lateraliter spinoso; elytris satis brevibus, sparse et longe pilosis, apice rotundatis; pedibus brevibus.
Voisin de OEschopalea Pasc., s'en distingue par le scape des antennes différent, les élytres hérissés de quelques très longs poils laineux blancs,
etc..
Hirteschopaloea albolineata n. sp.
Oblongo-elongatus, niger, griseo pubescens, thorace medio elytrisque ad suturam et ante apicem externe fulvo notatis, capite in vertice albo trilineato; thorace oblique albo quadrilineato.
Long. 10-11 mill. Tonkin.

Probably... actually, the long white hairs do not correspond to this species concerning their position and colour either.
They should be
  • 3
  • yellow
  • arranged as follows: 1) antemedian, discal; 2) median, close to the suture; 3) postmedian, close to the suture.
