I show here two (female?) specimen coming from the same place in Peru.
Genus Criodion, I think.
They are totally different in shape and colour. The photos on Bezark's Cerambycidae catalogue are not clear and do not allow good identifications. In addition to this, only one single species is reported from Peru.
This one, measuring 41mm, is covered with light grey pubescence, the apex of each elytron is bispineous. |

Concerning the first specimen, it seems just a female of tuberculatum, a widespread species.
The only species, with toothed elytral apex, with which it might be confounded is C. rhinoceros Bates, 1870 from Parą (description here).
Unfortunately, it was described on the basis of a male...
The second specimen evidently belongs to another species: it is Criodion antennatum Gahan, 1892, the only one characterised by 12 antennomeres.

Yes, I agree so far. I also thought this could be tuberculatum. Its general form and colour fits with the few photos I know about this species. Also the ridges of the pronotum as well as the antennal configuration seem to be correct. It is the only species mentioned for Peru. |

Dear Pierre,
Is it possible that the first one is Criodion tuberculatum Gahan 1892?
It is claimed to be spread in Fr Guiana, Brazil and East Ecuador, so definitely has to be also in Peru. |

The second specimen is larger, about 50mm. Body clothed with reddish ochraceous pubescense. Apex of elytrae rounded, wearing only a small sutural edge. |
