Non: M. plutina devrait avoir les élytres entièrement pubescents et opaques sauf une bande longitudinale lisse le long de milieu.
Ceci, avec une tache pubescente sur l'épaule et une bande pubescente le long de la suture, est Mecosaspis fuscoaenea (Bates, 1879), forme typique.
