Dear Francesco, this beetle come into my hands with det. label "Euryarthrum lambii".
In my opinion it is evidently mistake, this beetle belongs to the Callichromatini, maybe Asmedia mimetes.
"Mimetic" design really, like big Prothemini, amazingly!
What is it you think?

There is something that does go. According to the original description (p. 526, at the side the original picture), this species should be 9 lines long (= 18 mm).
Podanı (1968) provided 10-12 mm, but Hüdepohl (1998, p. 216) provided 21-25.5 mm and 27.5 mm for its subspecies sumatrana (same page).
Finally, A. mimica Podanı, 1968 from Perak is 12.8 mm long.
Hence, I am not sure that all quoted specimens belong to the same species. |

Thanks for the confirmation! Appearance of wasps can be simulated a variety of ways. In this case, the result of simulation is similar to the smallest detail in beetles from different groups. Beetles are much more similar to each other than to object of hypothetical imitation. It's distinctively amazing. |

You are right: it is Asmedia mimetes like this species Gyula posted here.
The most visible difference are the spines at each side of the prothorax, absent in the Prothemini. Actually, Callichromatini differ from Prothemini in the presence of scent-pores at the postero-lateral angle of the metasternum.
The topic about "mimicry" is also interesting. I do not think that this species imitates Euryarthrum, but that both imitate wasps (?). It should be Batesian mimicry.
The only thing that does not go it that these cerambycids are maybe nocturnal… |

I have this species identified as Asmedia mimetes Pascoe, 1866. |
