Missing dorsal view as this is an old pic. Learning to take pictures of every angle in the future!

Posted - 29/11/2014 : 01:07:33 The Sclethrus occurred in Singapore doesn't examined in Han, C. & T. Niisato. 2009.
But Sclethrus malayanus is separable from S. borneensis and S. sumatrensis sumatrensis by closely strongly punctured elytra.
So, I think your beetles are Sclethrus malayanus, too. |

Found a mating pair last week in Singapore. Looks close but not sure if they are of the same species as this. Will post dorsal view tonight. |

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 14:54:27 Hi, now I confirm "Han, C. & T. Niisato. 2009. Clytine beetles of the genus Sclethrus Newman (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae). Special Bulletin of the Japanese Society of Coleopterology, Tokyo. 7:237-279. 146 fig.", it is S. malayanus. S. stenocylindrus doesn't occur in Malay Peninsula. |

Posted - 08/11/2013 : 13:41:04 I see two species in Singapore : Sclethrus stenocylindrus Fairmaire, 1895 and Sclethrus malayanus Han & Niisato, 2009. Without a dorsal view, I can't say more about your nice picture. |
