Coming back to this topic, which risks to be misleading, the shown species are:
NIISATO T., 2009 - Taxonomic notes on the genus Cyrtoclytus (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) from China and Indochina
Habitus of Cyrtoclytus species from China and Indochina.

Thank You, it is interesting case.
Holzschuh has explained it in introduction:
"NIISATO et al. (2009) haben diese neue Art irrtümlich als C. scapalis Holzschuh, 2003 bestimmt und unter fig. 6 abgebildet. Letztere besitzt jedoch die meisten Merkmale, durch die C. takakuwai Niisato et Kusakawe, 2009 charakterisiert ist und die bereits bei HOLZSCHUH (2003) aufgeführt sind: Stirn nur schütter gelb behaart ..."
Niisato in fact in 2009 was not mistaken with C. tatsuyai but with C. yunamensis (Pic)! (C. tatsuyai doesn’t exist, yet).
Holzschuh 2003 wrote: "die Stirn ist zum Unterschied zur Vergleichsart [C. yunamensis] nur sehr schütter gelblich behaart (!)".
So, Niisato could determine yours Cyrtoclytus from Fig. 6 as C. yunamensis but this species is quite different.
This abnormally „C. scapalis Fig. 6” with impossible yellow forehead (germ, „gelbliche Stirn”) recognized Holzschuh and two years later described it as C. tatsuyai Holzschuh, 2011.
So, since 2011 specimens like C. scapalis but with yellow forehead should be determined as C. tatsuyai Holzschuh, 2011 (below on the pictures).

Hi, in Niisato (Spec. Bull. Jpn. Soc. Coleopterol., Tokyo, 7, May 25, 2009), Cyrtoclytus scapalis is not shown. This is a bad determination by Niisato.
Holzschuh explains this error in Entomologica Basiliensia et Collectionis Frey 33, 2011 and describes this species as C. tatsuyai.
(perhaps it is clearly explained - Niisato 2009 contains errors)

Hi,
Could you confirm, Petr, that there is a problem (if I follow you), with this publication.
We can see on the picture page 3, fig.6 a Cyrtoclytus called "scapalis", exactly similar to the pictures of this post. |

Hi Tom, for easy identification of both species:
C. tatsuyai:
- densely hairy yellow forehead
- first yellow transverse spot from the base very thin
- brown spot in the basal part of elytra
- apical yellow spot
C. scapalis:
- very thin, almost unnoticeable white hairs on forehead
- first yellow (and second) transverse spot from the base much wider
- elytra in the basal part without brown spots
- without apical yellow spot |

I guess, you mean wide (org.: breitere, dicht gelb behaarte, postbasale Schrägbinde auf den Flügeldecken). |

Both photos are Cyrtoclytus tatsuyai,
C. scapalis doesn´t has yellow hairs on the forehead and the bottom stripe on the elytra is rather white.

It is just Cyrtoclytus scapalis Holzschuh, 2003; I have found a picture in this recent Japanese monograph. |
