Dear friends,

a colleague sent me a picture from a maybe (south ?) American sps caught in the Zoo of Hamburg (Germany), I have no knowledge about this kind of beetles, thanks for support.

it's a female of Retrachydes thoracicus thoracicus (Olivier, 1790)

You are right, it's a South-American species (known from Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay & Argentina). It should have been imported with a log...
