Mexico, Baja California. 22/20/25 mm These three specimen should be Deltaspis cruentus LeConte, 1862. My question is: which way this species can be separated from Deltaspis ivae Beierl & Barchet-Beierl, 1999, an other Deltaspis very similar which can also be found in the north western area of Mexico. There are no photos of both of these species on the net - besides the ones shown on Larry Bezark's page but they seem to be confused (...??). Does someone have the original descriptions of D. cruentus and D. ivae? |

Deltaspis ivae is small (12-16mm) and not so brightly colored. It is also very, very rare with almost all specimens known from California.
I have a hard copy of the original description. My pdf file is damaged. |
