14 mm. Hua Phan, Nord Est Laos; ... et vraiment aucune idée du Genre !
Un Trachyderini ?? mais le thorax est bien globuleux.
Je poste la photo d'un second spécimen que je soupçonne d'appartenir à la même espèce (même localité). |

May be, "valid" and "correct" has different meaning.
I guess that the species was described from Vietnam (Tonkin), so that there was no reason to include it into fauna of China. Probably the same for Laos. Note also that at that time it was very difficult to guess how particular species might look (no photos, no internet, only poor descriptions). |

Thank you Francesco. I use mostly biolib for searching names and synonyms, and it's obviously a good database.
For this species, I'm surprised of its absence in Gressitt and longicorns of China. But I don't understand how both names could be valid if Pic described it in first??? |

Thank you very much for these pictures and the news concerning this species!
Pic described it as Purpuricenus (Luteicenus) atromaculatus Pic, 1922, so both names are correct.
But it was missing in BioLib...
Though more than 3000 naturalists collaborate with BioLib, it is incomplete yet; nonetheless, it is the most complete database on the Web.... much more complete and correct than Fauna Europaea for example... you can see the synonyms of very common species such as Ergates faber or Leptura maculata... or the crazy systematic of Plagionotus or of the Balkan Dorcadion... |

Thanks !, ...but it's strange : I don't find any reference on the Web about these species. On zipcodezoo.com, I find Purpuricenus atromaculatus Pic, 1922. Could it be the right name ? No picture of it anywhere and no mention on biolib. |

Quite simple, I guess.
Currently it is Luteicenus atromaculatus (Pic, 1922) = Latecyrtidus yamasakoi Vives et Niisato, 2011. |
