I am pretty confident this is Pyrestes politus with a reduced black apical mark.
Data: 05-2014 - Tapah Hills - Perak - Malaysia
Thanks Ben

Posted - 12/02/2016 : 03:41:23 Ben, attached is a female P. politus from Sabah. My specimen is shaped a little differently, with shorter antennae, since it is a female, but I don't know how important is the size and position of the smooth and shiny middle area of the pronotum. The apical black spot on each elytron is larger on my specimens. I have not seen the type from the BMNH. I think it was Hudepohl who originally identified my Bornean specimens, and I have never sent any to Holzschuh for confirmation. It would be nice to photo of the holotype from BMNH (hint, hint)
