An Anthribidologist friend of mine sent me this picture of a specimen from Thailand. The specimen was mistakenly sent to him as an Anthribid (prothorax's deep depression apparently similar to the anthribid genus Stiboderes). Any idea what it is? |

The specimen from Thailand has more distinct sculpturing on the pronotum, however the photographs are not conclusive. Without a series of specimens, it is impossible to see if there is variation in this species. |

Posted - 13/09/2018 : 17:24:44 It's a Pachylocerus species, perhaps close to P. nayani Vives, 2010.
The HT of P. nayani is nearly all black but has a small amount of grayish pubescence in the apical part of the elytra.
Perhaps a new species? |
