Posted - 02/04/2015 : 09:56:48 You are right, though the last linked pictured was wrongly identified (it is a Cycnidolon)
It might be Cycnidolon approximatum (White, 1855), Ibidionini.

Posted - 02/04/2015 : 08:50:54 Dear Dan and Francesco, thank you for your ID! But I don't think it is Hexocycnidolon unoculum (Bates, 1870) based on the holotype in Larry's database: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=2828&w=n
Because the shape of apex of scape and the shape of femora are different from Hexocycnidolon unoculum (Bates, 1870). |

Posted - 02/04/2015 : 08:39:30 It is Hexocycnidolon unoculum (Bates, 1870) of the tribe Hexoplonini Martins, 2006.
The tribe Ibidionini, disappeared due a taxonomic mistake, will be restored in a next paper. Neobidionini will be considered as a synonym (unnecessary replacement name). |

Posted - 02/04/2015 : 05:35:33 This is an Ibidionini, excuse me... now Neoibidionini, or possibly Hexoplonini. With luck, you can match it to a photograph on the Western Hemisphere Cerambycidae web site or perhaps the French Guiana web site (via www.golofa.fr). Many species are only known from a few specimens, so the photographs may not be very good. There are an enormous number of similar species. |
