Neotropical question .
Lycid-like Pteroplatus from Peru, Junin, 8 km NE from Puerto Okopa. It is similar to P. fasciatus Buquet, 1841 but i`m not sure absolutely.
Can anyone help me there? |

I have 7 ex of this species and I can be sure it`s with the obvious gibbosities in posterior third of elytra.
So it must be P. gracilis Buquet, 1840 according that key. Besides P. gracilis adduce from environs of Puerto Okopa in this work.

Pteroplatus fasciatus has become a variety of pulcher, but I do not observe the small subcircular gibbosities on the apical area of the elytra present in this species.
In my opinion, it could be Pteroplatus variabilis Sallé, 1849, even if this species is not recorded from Peru.

Maybe You right but hard to say surely. I have 7 ex. of this species and all painted in the some way - humeral spot elongated along the edge of the elytra laterally and wide black field in the middle of pronotum. The width of light band on the elytra some variable but nothing other. |
