Posted - 25/02/2015 : 10:00:52 Coming to this post, both species are present in the gallery here.
Pseudomeges varioti can be recognised for its small inferior eye-lobes (large in marmoratus), the squared scutellum (elongate in marmoratus) and the larger size (up to 5-6 cm in marmoratus, over 7 cm in varioti).
The first character is well observable in the specimens of the gallery. The scutellum well visible in this Stebbing's drawing:
Meges marmoratus Westwood from India, Southern Shan States, in Stebbing, 1914, Fig. 248 |

Posted - 06/06/2014 : 19:29:07 Yes, I understand that Pseudomeges marmoratus (Westwood, 1848) is the Himalayan species and Pseudomeges varioti Le Moult, 1946 is from Yunnan (China), Laos, and probably Thailand.
I have never seen a P. marmoraus to compare, but this one seems to be good one
To complete : Breuning (Laos fauna, 1970) thought that P. varioti is a morpha of P. marmoratus |
