Posted - 09/03/2015 : 09:45:53 Özdikmen & Turgut (2009: 302) put it as "Diorthus Gahan, 1891 is a synonym of Tapinolachnus Thomson, 1864"... but other references still have Diorthus as valid name... so which is the right one to maintain.. Kindly suggest |

That is not true: note that Tavakilian, beside to publish never published synonymies and combinations, does not care all following publications, which only consider Diorthus:
WEIGEL, MENG & LIN, 2013 - Contribution to the Fauna of Longhorn Beetles in the Naban River Watershed National Nature Reserve - Formosa Ecological Company, Taiwan: 1-219.
NGA & LONG, 2014 - A preliminary list of the subfamily Cerambycinae (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) of Vietnam - Tap Chi Sinh Hoc 36 (1): 12-38.
BHAWANE, GAIKWAD, GAIKWAD & MAMLAYYA, 2015 - Longicorn beetles and their diet breadth from forests of Kolhapur district, northern western Ghats, Maharashtra - The Bioscan 10 (2): 679-684.
MAJUMDER, HALDER, RAHA, MITRA & CHANDRA, 2016 - Longhorned Beetles from Gomarda Wildlife Sanctuary, Chhttisgarh, India (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) - Munis Entomology & Zoology 11 (2): 613-618. |

Posted - 09/03/2015 : 15:19:10 Unfortunately, Özdikmen & Turgut (2009) based this synonymy only on a wrong synonymy inserted in BioLib a lot of a time ago. I eliminated it on 2.X.2008 since it did not have any supporting paper.
Nobody published the synonymy Diorthus = Tapinolachnus or combinations such as "Tapinolachnus cinereus (Fabricius, 1793)". Actually, Özdikmen & Turgut did not publish this synonymy either but only quoted it. It is very different!
Copy without understanding is very dangerous...

In Titan database, the valid genus name is Tapinolachnus for all Diorthus sp. ... Note that Titan database only recognize the last publication (Özdikmen & Turgut, 2009: 302), and don't give a scientific position. |
