Posted - 27/11/2022 : 12:58:21 In this specimen, the prosternal process is moderately wide (ie not needle like or thin) and regularly curved, with its maximum Hight below the coxae. Note this seems to be the case for many (all?) of the Prosopocera. The meso-sternal process is slightly higher than the coxae, strongly bifid at the apex. It is almost flat, from the ventral side it has an appearance of a Y , with a slight slope to the bifid. No tubercles or depressions occur on the surface. currently, I only have female specimens of P. maculosa, the meso-sternal process is very similar in appearance to this specimen, with the exception that it is slightly below the coxae. Will compare type specimens to confirm. |

Posted - 26/11/2022 : 17:50:20 For me Carayonida is a synonym of Paralphitopola. But I miss some elements of comparison. I had noticed the 12 articles on schistacea, maculosa and sofala but what I would like to see in jacobea is the mesosternal and prosternal process ? If you have elements to compare your jacobea with sofala and others it would confirm what we think ? |

Posted - 26/11/2022 : 07:21:17 Hi Jerome, On the question of 12 segmented antennae, it seems to me that Prosopocera (Carayonida)jacobeae Teocchi; Prosopocera (Paralphitopola) schistacea Jordan; Prosopocera (Paralphitopola) maculosa (Pascoe); Prosopocera (Paralphitopola) sofala (Distant); Prosopocera (Alphitopola) nivea Hunt & Breuning; Prosopocera (Alphitopola) pseudomaculosa Breuning all have 12 segmented antennae, with the base of the 4th segment distinctly whitish pubescent. Further, the flattening of the femurs also seems to be constant throughout. So currently having a problem with the distinction of the sub-genus Carayonida. What is your feeling on the syn of Carayonida and Paralphitopola? |

Posted - 25/11/2022 : 18:42:02 Bonsoir Riana
Il semblerait que ton specimen présente 12 articles anténnaire ?? J'ai l'impression qu'il s'agit de Prosopocera (Carayonida) jacobea Téocchi ? Regarde de ton côté si c'est bien ça ?
Bonne soirée
