Posted - 31/03/2013 : 10:16:44 Many thanks Dan! I add the description of both species (Breuning, 1944: 334):
In the key they were separated according to: 6. Marginal apical angle of elytra forming a spine; basal tubercles of elytra regularly conical ... P. obliquemaculata -. Marginal apical angle of elytra spined but not forming a spine; basal tubercles of elytra more stiffly truncated at the anterior than at the posterior side ... P. philippinensis
Considering that the types are male and female, I can not recognize the difference in the apical spine. Breuning's definition "spined but not forming a spine" (épineux mais non étiré en épine) is very ambiguous. The shape of the basal tubercle is very difficult to detect. The types look very different in pattern... but this difference was not considered. |

First is P. obliquemaculata
