None are known from Buru.
I have received material from Indonesian dealers who told me specimens were from E. Kalimantan, when in reality they were species indigenous to Sulawesi.
I also think to Apriona minettii Jiroux, 2011, described from a unique exemplar from Morotai (North Moluccas) and nearly identical to Apriona irma Kriesche, 1919 from Sumatra and West Java...
As those from Kalimantan, they are probably materials labelled as "Indonesia" and then "better" localised by subsequent dealers. |

Posted - 20/02/2017 : 09:21:50 Is it time to start a " black list " of insect dealers ?
Full name of this species is Anhammus dalenii borneensis de Jong, 1942 |

the nominate subspecies is from Java one subspecies each from Sumatra, Borneo and the Malay Peninsula I don't know which one is closest to your beetle.
In my opinion, the chance that this specimen is from Buru is extremely small. I have thrown specimens into the garbage can at times. Or I just put a label on the specimen like this "???" |

I think you are right, it is not a matter of "advantage" : when sellers use to buy a lot of specimens from all over the world, they may have some problems to put all of them in good blisters...and they do not really care about that. |

Posted - 19/02/2017 : 16:52:49 Appears to be A. d. dalenii Guerin 1844 but that is found on Kalimantan. Not sure what to do with the specimen now. |
