Posted - 09/12/2023 : 00:19:43 Yes Dan you are right, now I found a true T. albolateralis in my coll., with the same different elyral pattern, and some differences in the hairiness (antennae, legs ...), otherwise almost all features are very similar, so its a quite nearby new species. Maybe someone can teach me about the tribe asignment to Lamiini. |

Posted - 08/12/2023 : 13:14:08 I'm sure they are two different species. I have a fair number of specimens of the "new" one. The elytral pattern is completely different, and antennae color. Both species have been collected in the same area, and there is no intermediate form. A couple of people have described subspecies of some taxa when they both occur in nearly the same area. I think this is bad taxonomy. I have at least 7 or 8 other new "Lamiini" from Sabah. It's not surprising to see undescribed species from there. |

Posted - 08/12/2023 : 00:51:15 Your both albolateralis spms are male and female, or ? I'm not yet convinced this are two species , even though the elytral pattern and the apex are rather different. |

Posted - 06/12/2023 : 13:00:44 maybe all this spms belong to T. albolateralis: here a female 19mm and a male 11mm from Borneo, females are larger and the antennae thinner, maybe the white toment is very sensitive and often rubbed off.

Posted - 15/12/2017 : 18:06:41 There is only one species in the genus; but Thylactomimus albolateralis Breuning, 1959 talks about a species white on lateral sides. |

Posted - 14/12/2017 : 15:16:14 I did not check my material closely. I apologize.
This is a Thylactomimus.... I think photos of this species have been posted before.
But it is not albolaterialis which is known from Sabah and West Malaysia.
It is an undescribed species, which I have only seen from Sabah so far. Also, it is not rare. I have seen 10 - 20 specimens over the last 20 years. |
