Posted - 15/01/2015 : 22:26:56 Well, I think everybody suspects that this is an Oberea. But which one? I have over 40 species (some are undoubtedly undescribed) from Sabah which I have received over the last 16 years. I have names on only 2 or 3 of my species, and even those are tentative!! The important differential characters in these species are the shape and punctation on the pronotum and elytra, and the apices of the elytra. There are also obvious differences in the color and pubescence.
Your species bears a strong resemblance to O. clara Pascoe (see Pascoe's Longicornia Malayana for a figure drawing) , but I don't have a photo of the type and that is what it will require in order to confirm or eliminate that species. There are many species that are similar to each other that all look a little like O. clara.
