I wonder if Breuning had ever access to the collection of the British Museum.
The imbroglio involving some Acalolepta, e.g. mixta and vastator, which I have explained in this publication, proves that he never saw this collection.
As he never saw other collections preserved in the Netherland or in Sweden, as other evident mistakes prove.
The distribution Singapore-Borneo, as the distribution peninsular Malaysia-Singapore, is possible, but it should be scientifically proved by real specimens.
P.s. the right epithet is polynesus not polynesa, since nesus is not an adjective.

On page 498 of Novitates Entomologiques, Breuning stated that
- C. polynesus is distributed in Sarawak (White), Kinabalu (Fisher), Singapore (Pascoe), and that
- C. albofasciata is only in Penang (British museum).
However, my colleague recently took photos of these 2 specimens in London, and the specimen in Pascoe collection is in fact a C. albofasciata from Singapore, and there is no C. polynesus from Singapore in Pascoe collection.
Thus, I suspect it is a mistake by Breuning. I am not sure, because it seems strange that he made such mistake since he must have access to the British museum material when he described the C. albofasciata in 1936 (based on the Penang specimen in British museum).
A follow up question: I wonder if any one on this forum has collected or seen specimens of C. polynesus from Peninsular Malaysia or Sumatra?

Je ne comprends pas: est ce que tu as la description originelle de Breuning du 1936 (Festschr. E. Strand: p. 310) ou celle parue dans Breuning, 1938-9 (Novitates Entomologiques: p. 498)? |

Je pense que tu as raison pour le nom.
Je n'ai pas fait attention aux bandes convergentes. |

Choeromorpha bien sûr, mais j'ai un petit doute avec C. albofasciata von Breuning, 1936.
Ici le dessin original de Agelasta polynesus, qui devrait se différentier de albofasciata (entre autre) pour le bandes du pronotum parallèles au lieu que convergentes vers la base...
