Posted - 16/12/2015 : 14:48:18 I have called this N. plagifera (Aur. 1925), and I have several specimens from Borneo and at least one from Sumatra. I see the photo of the type specimen is a nice match for the photo posted above, but I question whether Breuning re-described the species of Aurivillius. I do not have a type photo of Camptocnema plagifera (= N. plagifera) from Stockholm. Holzschuh had suggested to me that this might be N. plagifera but he had not seen the type either. Aurivillius illustrated plagifera (type locality: Java) however it is a very small hand drawing, but there is resemblance between plagifera and albosignatipennis.
Makihara (1999) in his error-filled photographic catalog of West Kalimantan Cerambycidae, illustrated this species but called it N. hepaticolor which is totally incorrect and not even close.
And, lastly, I believe that N. lateralis White 1858 and the species above are similar and may be the same, or that they have been confused with each other.
There are over 60 species in Niphona (s.str.) and it is probably a taxonomic mess. |
