I don't think it is C. antennatus.
There are just 3 species reported from Borneo. I have at least 5, perhaps as many as 7 species just from northern Borneo. It may be possible that C. adustus (type locality: Sumatra) is not a synonym of C. antennatus (type locality: Java), too. I don't believe any of my 5, 6 or 7 species of Cenodocus looks like the drawing of C. adustus Pascoe.
Another possibility is that C. borneensis Gilmour & Breuning is a synonym of C. antennatus or C. adustus (if it is valid!!).
I have a couple of specimens of the species in Gerard's photograph, but the dark pubescence near the center of the elytra covers a larger area of the elytra, and maybe this could be C. borneensis, but my copy of Gilmour and Breuning's (1963) paper is not very good.
All I can honestly say is that there are a lot of species in Borneo and whatever has been published about them is probably not based on the examination of many specimens.
The only species in Borneo which I have identified with a high degree of certainty is C. granulosus Pascoe. The species illustrated a couple years ago by Robert is what I refer to: http://www.cerambycoidea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14487 |
