I hope you are right. I'll try to find an original description.
Francesco, I think you are mistaken about pubescence. I have a series of 7-8 specimens of this species. They all look exactly the same. The pubescence is very poor. If you look carefully you can see that the beetle is not rubbed and is not worn off. Neither in other specimens, except one. So, I am almost sure such a scarce pubescence is a character of this species. |

Carlo, this specimen had a very damaged pubescence but you managed to identify it, bravo! 
Regarding the subspecies, I am not sure, since Tanzania does not seem recorded for this species yet.
There are two subspecies widespread from South Africa to Ethiopia (cf. BioLib), so both might reach Tanzania. Unfortunately, Lamiaires has incomplete and confused data this time  .
I search the key in order to clarify the topic. |
