This Frea, close to F. marmorata or F. flavoscapulata was collected in Nguru mountains.

For me the specimen on this top is Frea marmorata Gerstaecker.
Frea flavoscapula is generally (I saw very few specimens and especially 2 or 3 males) and I have a specimen that I assimilate to this species in collection, but probably it shrinks more clearly in its apical half. But is this valid? I do not know. There is a complex of species in this group of Frea that all look alike and have very fine characters and also a coloration of the humeral and apical spots that can be also grey ...so...it's complicated. Also I don't know the typus of flavoscapula ...

This is the specimen I am thinking of (from Mozambique), F. flavoscapulata is supposed to lack granulae on base of elytra (Les elytres a peine granules a la base), which this does, but markings seem to match F. marmorata. Maybe I am missing something in the interpretation of Breuning's 1942 key? |

Le problème est que j'ai pu voir le type de F marmorata mais le type est vieux et complètement frotté il n'a plus du tout ou quasiment plus sa pubescence sur les élytres de plus j'avais collecté au Malawi des ex que j'avais rapportés à F marmorata et je possède des exemplaires que je rapproche de flavoscapula dont je n'ai pas vu le type, donc je reste prudent dans la détermination de votre exemplaire. |

Can anyone say if F. marmorata is granulate at the base of the elytra or if it is only punctate? I have a specimen that looks good for marmorata in placement of the preapical spot and the pronotal spine but it is simply punctate at the base. |
