Ok, I just read the description (in french) of Cleptometopus cameroni Breuning, 1972 and it fits well.

Thanks Xavier. I think it is likely a Cleptometopus cameroni Breuning, 1972.

A picture of C.simillimus HT is available on https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=24050&w=o, which has quite a different habitus and appearance.
