There is a very bad picture of the holotype of Ropica griseosparsa Pic, 1927 = Ropica lineatithorax Pic, 1927 here
To compare, syntype specimen from BMNH of Ropica vinacea Pascoe, 1865 is here
I think you specimen is closer to first species. |

Dear all
How to tell apart Ropica griseosparsa and R.vinacea? Both are found in this region, though the former seems to be a primarily Indochinese species.
Anyone has Breuning 1964's key for this group, or description for these 2 species?
I attach the description by Pascoe for R.vinacea. The color of the elytra seems to match but not the indistinct white spots.
Reddish-brown, with an exceedingly delicate pubescence ; head brownish, with the pubescence longer and of a greyish colour in front ; prothorax short, scarcely broader than the head, finely punctured, the sides darker ; scutellum subtriangular, rounded behind ; elytra reddish in the centre, the sides dark brown, a few indistinct whitish spots posteriorly (entirely absent in one specimen); body beneath and legs reddish-brown, the pubescence very fine and scanty ; antennae paler, with a short greyish pile.
Length 2.5 lines. |

It seems Ropica griseosparsa Pic,1927, but I'm not sure. |

That is a nice Spec. from the genus Ropica. |
