Dear Gerard,
simliar in appearance are Mimaelara papuana Breuning, 1959 from Newguinea and Sybra pantherina Heller, 1915 from Sumatra, from Philippines I don't know any similar sps at least in Apomecynini.
Can you post your acc spm ?

I will see if I can get photos. My camera is old and does not do a good job for beetles this small.

can you post a picture of your spms from Sabah, I did'nt see before !
In different groups there are similar sps according the pattern etc.

I have a very similar specimen from Sabah, with just a slightly different distribution and pattern of pubescence. It is the same genus probably. It might be the same species. Have you seen this species from Sabah yet?

I have 3 other species from Sabah which may be closely related. I did not send these to you 5 years ago because I thought they were Acanthocinini
