Is it possible to put a name on this Stolidodere? BioLib is mentioning aurivillii, dequaei, gahani. Are these valid taxa? or synonyms? |

Posted - 20/05/2014 : 12:55:22 this is not dequaei! femora seem not a clear character. I have a small series of dequaei and a series too of "aurivillii" (with a reserve until not seeing the types and a doubt of a second potential sp in the area of the type locality), they are two different species !
good characters are the pronotal sculpture, the shape of the black basal patches and in a lesser view the length of the back apical patches. |

Posted - 20/05/2014 : 08:21:55 this is probably aurivillii (type not seen but dequaei is something different and gahani is very different (lack of apical black). I say probably as there are may be two species in this area (the common one found in Cameroon and proposed by many dealers from there and a may be a second found in Gabon, slightly different but lacking material for variability study ). I am busy with this genus (if you have interesting material ?) |

Posted - 26/02/2012 : 13:15:48 All three species are valid according to Breuning (1956, Longicornia III). I read the keys but I do not have them here... an ID to postpone. |
