In first photo by Dorcus125 shown male of Spinimegopis bezborodovi Koshkin, 2018.
I think in left photo by Capitaine (Posted - 20/11/2016 : 11:28:41) also male of Spinimegopis bezborodovi Koshkin, 2018, but very strongly oiled.
Description new species available here.

Whiskers ? you certainly means antennae..
Effectively the length of antennae is usually longer on the species fujitai, however some variation could be found while observing a small series of specimens.
Here after, you can compare your spm between S. fujitai left from Vietnam and S. lividipennis right from Laos.
I'm not able to certify that your spm is fujitai, but i haven't other idea for this one.

but this S. fujitai, differs from S. fujitai available on the Internet, or the length of the whiskers is not an indicator for this species?
I'll get a parcel with the beetle - do a better photo, and will present it here

Well, among the four species of Spinimegopis known from Vietnam:
S. perroti
S. fujitai
S. lividipennis
S. piliventris (and ssp antennalis)
We can exclude piliventris and P. antennalis as your spm doesn't show antennal segments hair-fringed.
It's not perroti (segment three narrower and pronotal shape different).
So, it could be S. lividipennis or S. fujitai, and with this three-spined pronotum side and the black apex of antenal segments, I rather think to S. fujitai Komiya & Drumont,2007 (even if this species is usually known from north Vietnam). |
