Bonjour,

Norbert

thanks Claude, really O. bispinosus looks a bit similar, but my spm has 3 spine at the pronotum sides, 2 small ones behind, the surface structures and the hairs are different, there are no costae on the elytra.
I don't believe it's an Osphryon because of appearance generally, Toxeutes maybe is a better choice.

Have a look to this publication (fig 1 et 2).
not too far...

Yes, Toxeutes dentifrons could be found in this country, but genus Toxeutes shows generally a big elytral punctuation and evident costae.
I don't see very well on your picture if there are two or three spines on each side of the pronotum.

Thanks Claude, I don't know all the Osphryon sps too, but I don't believe my spm belongs to this genus.
Probably the genus Cacodacnus is right ?
The pronotum is also similar to Toxeutes maybe.

In fact, the elytral habitus with the bispined apex lets think about genus Osphryon (see link here after) but the pronotum shape doesn't match.
Unfortunately, I don't have specimens of all Osphyron species in coll. to compare...

This specimen belongs certainly to Callipogonini tribe.
It is very close to genus Cacodacnus, but does not meet the species known in PNG (C. hebridanus / C. lameeri)
