Posted - 31/07/2016 : 12:39:16 The main difference between the two species you mentioned is in the general appearance (elytra rather parallel for holzschuhi; elytra widened near middle and humeri narrower) and surface of elytra.
Moreover, P. obliquefasciatus is rather wingless species (wings strongly reduced) while P. holzschuhi can probably fly (wings well developed).
It seems that specimens from Lao Cai show some variability in length of antennae and a little in granulation of elytra. That's why I initially assumed they should belong to different taxon than the Holotype from south Yunnan (Jinping).
There is one more species in Vietnam (Cao Bang province), but its elytra are completely glabrous and smooth (P. glabripennis). I think, it was also offered by some traders but I do not remember if I downloaded the Picture [I found it - it was offered last summer from "north Vietnam"].
As concerns the figures above, probably it is a male and female... Notwithstanding, in both cases I can see some whitish hairs on some antennal segments. |

Good, but what's the differences between holzschuhi and obliquefasciatus? It is a synonym or the 2 species are located in the same country?
Here a specimen from same station (Lao Cai / Vietnam). It's clear that the antenal joints are not identical in lenght (third and fourth) and coloration (white part on the third and the following).
