This is the last of my unidentified photos, at least until after the monsoon rains finish here and I can get out into the field again. |

Thank you. I was surprised by the genus. The only Thai species of this genus that I have been able to find is P. zebrina, and this is not that! |

Yes, in fact, P. zebrina belongs to the subgenus Lychrosis. The problem of this genus is that Pterolophia counts ca. 500 species in the Oriental area, all with tarn colouration. The revision by Breuning (1965) counts 457 species. It consists of more than 460 pages without figures in German language. I can well understand, but the characters used in the keys are not in colour, but characters like "rapport between eyes and cheeks 3/2 or 7/4"... or "puncturing rather sparse or almost sparse", etc. In alternative, I can read all descriptions, but your beetle comes from an area, where species from India, China, Thailand or Malacca can arrive... Finding this name is difficult even if I had your beetle under my microscope! |
