sorry, I mis-spelled the name. the image I posted was Macrochenus melanospilus (male) not "melanopsis"

Thank you Dryobius, my photo is close to Macrochenus melanospilus, but yours is a quite different and I think it's maybe Macrochenus guerinii White, 1858.

Ça pourrait être aussi la femelle de Macrochenus lacordairei Thomson, 1865.
Le mâle est dans la gallery (ici).
Ici on peut suivre une discussion intéressante au sujet de melanospilus/lacordairei.

The species in my photograph is M. melanospilus in my opinion, and based on the English translation of Breuning's key (updated, and given to me by Hudepohl about 13 years ago). Hudepohl wanted to revise the SE Asian Monochamini but his eyesight started failing and so he put his collection of beetles and literature in a museum before publishing his last manuscript, which still needed work.

Genus Macrochenus Guérin-Méneville

1 Elytron with two long, apical spines. Sri Lanka, Myanmar. tigrinus (Olivier)
- Elytron apically with two short spines 2

2 The light median fascia of pronotum much broader than the lateral ones 3
- The median fascia not or hardly broader than the lateral ones, or abbreviated 4

3 Elytra gray with isolated, rectangular, black spots. India. guerini (White)
- Elytra black with dilacerated, white or ochreous spots. Andaman Is. atkinsoni Gahan

4 Elytra distinctly spotted with small, irregular spots 5
- Elytra with rather large spots 6

5 Eltra dark, spotted with light. Java, Alor I., Bali. lacordairei Thomson
- Elytra light, spotted with dark. Malaysia, Borneo. melanospilus Gahan

6 Elytra light, spotted with dark. South and South East Asia. isabellinus (Aurivillius)
- Elytra dark, spotted with light 7

7 Pronotum transversely sulcate. Assam. assamensis Breuning
- Pronotum not sulcate transversely. Vietnam. semijunctus Pic

Thank you Dryobius for your research.
If I follow this key, I obtain Macrochenus lacordairei. But the key did not talk about Sumatra's spm !
