Well, this is a pair of Pseudhammus myrmidonum Kolbe, the male exactly corresponding to the Kolbe's original description (ici, p. 34).

158.18 KB

The male is 28 mm long, the female 24 mm.
Both are coming from Central Cameroon, Nyong et So'o.

The male of this genus differs from Monochamus in the antennae a bit longer than the body, the protibiae internally spined and the prosternum with a blunt tubercle.
The sexual dimorphism is much less evident than in Monochamus spp.

Other species with different characters do not belong to Pseudhammus or their taxonomic position must be verified.

By considering that Claudio's specimen is only 15.5 mm long, the protibiae are a bit shorter; nonetheless, the antennal length and the shape of the scape suggest that it is a male.
