With this circular spot on the back, it seems ok for Sthenias grisator (Fabricius, 1787). I found a drawing here cf FLETCHER T. Bainbrigge, 1914. Some south Indian insects and other animals of importance considered especially from an economic point of view. Superintendent Government Press, Madras: i-xxii + 1-565, 440 figs, 50 pls.
But may be you already have this document ? |

Dear Sangamesh, thank you for this picture. It is very interesting to notice the circular cut around the branch which reminds to me similar cuts of American Onciderini.
I do not know if Erythrina has been already recorded as host. Stebbing (1914: 377-8), which you can find in the digital library here, mentioned only Tabernaemontana alba, but you should check Beeson & Bathia. |

Thank you...Beeson has recorded from Beaumontia grandiflora, Bougainvillea sp., Chloroxylon swietenia, Croton sp., Erythrina indica, E. lithosperma, Manihot utilissima, Moringa sp., Morus alba, Nerium odorum, Rosa, sp., Tabernaemontana alba, Vitis vinifera, Wrightia tinctoria...apart from these i've seen the girdled stems of Gliricidia at plantations in my locality, but not sure whether its been reported as host. |

A very nice sps and picture for ecological informations. This sps seems to be very rare, I have never seen in the field, and also in some collections.
