I received news today that Ole Mehl passed away on Feb. 5th, after fighting cancer for many, many years.
Some of you knew him for a longer time than I did. He was extremely friendly and unselfish. I will miss him.
He leaves behind a wife, Helle, a son, daughter and grandson. |

I got yesterday this really sad news from Helle Mehl, I'm very sad about the loss of my good friend and colleague, and a wellknown Cerambycidologist. His wife Helle begged me to inform all, if there any questions or problems concerning entomological thinks, please let me know. As far as I know his big collection will be deposite in Kopenhagen (Denmark).
Attached a picture from Ole at our last trip in W-Papua (2011)

So so sad... Ole is the entomologist who has the most knowledge of the srilankan insects. We have done a fantastic trip in 2010 and I learned a lot from him.
God bless his family.
Never forget you , Ole.

This is a really sad news. We have been in touch since the first year I started to exchange, back in 1997. He has always been a very generous and friendly man. I regret I never had the chance to meet him in person.
He has been very sick the last year, but when he could, he would work on his lovely beetles, as he told me last August: "When I have a "good" day I'm able to spend one or two hours on beetles, so it is not much time I spend on my hobby, but I enjoy the time."
My sincere condolences to the loved ones he left behind. |
