I am nearly 100% sure that T. luciani Thomson, 1859 and T. xanthostictus Bates 1880 are the same species. I haven't found any differences other than the size of the spots on the elytra (occasionly absent) and the longitudinal yellow vitta on the center of the pronotum (sometimes lacking, sometimes very narrow, sometimes normal). I have about 15 specimens which show the entire ranges of variation. Also, their ranges generally overlap. I would not publish just this one synonymy since this tribe needs a thorough review. If anybody knows of a real morphological difference between these two species, please let me know. |

I agree with you Dan,
I also have many specimens of these two species and I never found any differences.
