It reminds me Monochamus dubius. However, features do not fit iconographic book well, such as color of legs.

Yes, me too, close to Monochamus sparsutus Fairmaire, 1889 (valid name in Titan), but blacker and without longitudinal bands on pronotal sides. |

I have a pair of this sps from Sa Pa area too, and believe its not M. sparsutus (= dubius), at least pronotum and antennae are different from spms I have from Nepal, Laos and Vietnam. Xavier did you find already the types of this group in Paris as you wrote last year, f.e. M. talianus etc., maybe this sps is already described. |

No, I have not found holotype of M. dubius / sparsutus in MNHN; may be next time?
For M. fascioguttatus Gress. the synonymy has been made by Breuning:
From BREUNING S., 1944. Études sur les Lamiaires (Coleop. Cerambycidæ). Douzième tribu : Agniini Thomson. Novitates Entomologicæ, 3ème supplément (107-135): 281-512, figs 158-305.

It could be that our spms from N-Vietnam belongs to M. fascioguttatus indeed, the white/yellowish speckles are a variable character, the HT spm here. |

Monochamus fascioguttatus Gressitt, 1938 is a synonym of Monochamus sparsutus (Fairmaire, 1889). With this one, this the third holotype picture I see, and all of them are ...different ! |

Monochamus fascioguttatus is not a synonym of Monochamus sparsutus. It is about an old Breuning's synonymy (1944, 1949, see here), which Breuning himself corrected (see e.g. Rondon & Breuning, 1970, Lamiinae du Laos: 463). |

J'ai informé Tavakilian de cette fausse synonymie. |
