Dear all: This beetle was intercepted together with Anelaphus albofasciatus and Leptostylus retrorsus Bates. But I don't know the name. Pls help. Best Regards
Anelaphus albofasciatus does not occur in Guatemala. You may instead have A. undulatum, a common species in southern Mexico and Central America.
Likewise, Leptostylus retrorsus is only known from Panama and Costa Rica. Leptostylus is a very large genus of similar species which also exhibit intraspecific variability, whose larvae feed on many types of dead woody plants. They are very difficult or impossible to identify from photographs.
Yes i admit the leptostylus spp have very tough and chageblly whitish elytra which i am not very sure. And the Anelaphus i remember on apical third of the elytra there is a pair of white spot so lovely. Anyway i will check again and in deed id by internet image is diffy. thanks a lot. enjoyed reading from u.
