Francesco, je me permets de poster encore les photos de ce Epepeotes de Sulawesi.
As-tu une autre suggestion que E. plorator celebensis?

Tu as raison, le scape ne correspond pas à ce genre.
J'ai essayé à reconstruire le toment de cette espèce... mais quel est sa couleur originaire? Brun rougeâtre ou grise?

C'est vraiment brun. Le flash montre un aspect argenté mais en changeant l'angle d'où provient la lumière on voit que même le brun foncé devient plus pale. La pubescence n'et pas "couchée" dans le même sens... Donc le reflet moiré.

Les 4 taches "noires" sont de pubescence ou glabres?

Les taches "noires" ne sont pas glabres, mais recouvertes de soies plus courtes, plus foncées et semblent parfois plus faciles à frotter. Ci-joint une autre photo de plus proche, mais j'essaierai de faire mieux si possible et si nécessaire. Ignore les reflets argentés causés par le flash de la caméra.

Another chance to get a name for this beetle? From Mamasa, Sulawesi occidental
And, is this really genus Epepeotes ?

Je viens d'acheter un couple de cette espèce.
C'est effectivement une Acalolepta, come il a dit Ben, probablement nouvelle.
La couleur n'est pas faite de vrai "taches", mais de reflets de pubescence.

Good news, Ben was right: Acalolepta.
Les "taches" de pubescence couchée donnent cet effet chatoyant, moiré. Je n'ai que ce seul spécimen de Mamasa, S. Sulawesi, mars 2001.
