This is Prosoplus bankii (Fabricius, 1775). Typically, hairy. |

did you compare your P. bankii with type material, I have add 2 spms from ZMB coll. (P. bankii maybe det. by Breuning, first one from Toekan Besi Island/Indonesia), for sure there are many wrong identification, made by Breuning !

Thanks for adding these pics... All I could do is comparing with photos on Larry's site. You can see holotypes of Micracantha nutans, Niphona iratus, miscella, torosa, insularis and Aegomorphus musivus syntype. Also one photo from Slipinsky/Escalona. I was and still am just lost among those synonyms. In fact these two specimens from Kumarunga and Townsville are identified as Prosoplus miscellus (Pascoe) which are quite hairy and then should be P. bankii according to Francesco. So here is the photo of a specimen from Karumba, QLD identified as Prosoplus bankii (Fabr.) which seems to be close to your's from ZMB. I agree that there are probably many wrong identifications. See also Bennyboymothman post.
