Exactly: Olethrius scabripennis Thomson, 1865.
Very recently, I have revised the whole genus, analysing the types preserved in Paris, the collections of Bruxelles and Washington, and establishing synonymies for the species that Dillon & Dillon erroneously described. In particular, this species is widespread in the Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomons, where it is present only in Makira. In the Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Salomons and Papua is present Olethrius tyrannus Thomson, 1860, which has an endemic subspecies in the North of such areal: "O. tyrannus salomonum Vitali, 2008 (here).
This revision has been published in the last number of Entomapeiron. |
