Aeolesthes externa (Pascoe, 1869), not verified from the Solomons yet.
This species has been only recently recognised. In fact, Pascoe described it together with A. textor; nevertheless, Gahan (1890) erroneously synonymised them. Thank to the collaboration of Carlo Arrigo Casadio, who checked the types preserved in London, I could verify that the former species has a backward bowed intergenal furrow (such as A. induta, Fig. 2), while the latter has a right one (such as A. holosericea, Fig. 1). Other differences are in the structure of the pronotum. Such paper has been published in Entomapeiron N.S. 1 (3). The PDF can be asked here. |

Trirachys externus (Pascoe, 1869) is the new combination for this species. |
