Always, I have a problem to distinguish L. femorata and L. annulicornis, but this photo looks more like the latter: 1. following the photos in the Taiwanese book of Chou. 2. following the key of Gressitt (47), the lateral tubercles of pronotum should be strong in annulicornis; 12 lines of punctures (mistake in the key) in annulicornis; while femorata should have 16 lines. 3. also in the key of Breuning femorata "ist fein punktiert".
It seems to me that the specimen at the photo shows strong tubercles and relatively coarse punctuation. |

Possible, I have followed Breuning's key, but it might be misleading!
According to Matsushita (1933), who described annulicornis (from Taiwan), this species differs from other species in the ringed antennae. Here his original key to the Chinese species.
Nonetheless, Breuning defined the antennae of femorata as ringed as well... |

This is the type of L. annulicornis (I hope to find a better picture ). Honestly, the lateral tooth of the pronotum does not seem to me "strong"...

I don't know once key from Breuning for sure determination! Until now we have seen ca. 300 Types from the genus Sybra. No one of them is possible for determination with the key from Breuning, 1964!!! Unbelievable, but is real. The descriptions were all useless. Pic's description is also useless, very small, but better......save both time. The key for Linda is a real good example. Is the antenna black or not??? |

Extrait de NIISATO Tatsuya & KUSAKABE Yoshiyasu, 1994. The Taiwanese Species of the Cerambycid Genus Linda (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae). Elytra, Tokyo 22 (1): 191-202, 5 figs.
Antenna colour should be just...sexual dimorphism ! Now, I read the text to understand how separate species... |
