A pair from Taiwan, Yualo, Chienshin, Hsinchu. Male 43 mm, female 38 mm.
They were determined as "Dorysthenes hydropicus Pascoe" when I received them. |

The lobes of the third tarsal segment seem to me rounded (and not acute as in Cyrtognathus), the pronotum uneven and punctured, and the elytra show a double dorsal ridge; hence, they should be a pair of Dorysthenes (Prionomimus) igai Matsushita, 1941.
Actually, the reddish colouration corresponds better to the definition of the species (endemic from Taiwan) than that of the specimens coming from China. |

Coming back to this post, it is not evidently P. igai, which has coarsely punctured elytra. Maybe D. pici, as you said here, but I need to read the description of Dorysthenes elegans Ohbayashi, 1981 |
