39 mm, femelle. Hua Phan, Nord Est du Laos.
Avec la clé de Gressitt (1970), et en comparant avec la photographie de la galerie, j'arrive à Scalenus hemipterus (Olivier, 1795). Une confirmation pour cette magnifique espèce serait la bienvenue. |

Avec la monographie de Podaný (1968), j'arrive à Scalenus fulvus (Bates, 1879) pour la femelle et à S. hemipterus (qui pourtant devrait avoir les pattes noires) pour le mâle. Je ne sais pas si quelqu'un a jamais considéré la première espèce comme un synonyme de la deuxième. |

Oui. Le collecteur local m'a dit qu'il s'agissait d'un couple, ce que je n'ai pas pu vérifier... Pourrais-tu me donner les critères qui séparent ces deux espèces ? |

... selon Podaný, couleur des antennes, des élytres... mais c'est évident! De toute façon, les hemipterus de la gallérie sont sans doute un couple et le tien n’appartient pas à cette espèce. Voilà le dessin original d'Olivier: il correspond exactement au couple en gallérie: tout noir avec les ailes rouges. Selon Gressitt & Rondon (1970) l'espèce du Laos varie du jaune au noir, mais je doute qu'il s'agit de la même espèce de Java... |

Bonjour Francesco voici un couple provenant de Thaïlande qui devraient être Scalenus hemipterus (Olivier, 1795) la couleur et la taille me semble assez variable. |

Je ne vois vraiment aucune différence sous la binoculaire entre mes deux exemplaires : les pronotums sont exactement semblables, les antennes aussi, les nervures des élytres (on le voit sur mes photos) sont pareilles. Ils ont la même tache claire (photo) en dessous... Je pense qu'il s'agit bien d'une seule et même espèce, comme me l'avait dit le récolteur local. Mais laquelle des 2 ? S. hemipterus ou S. fulvus ?? |

Après comparaison avec d'autres espèces de Scalenus et relecture de la description de Gahan (1906), je pense que c'est bien un couple de Scalenus fulvus (Bates, 1879): - premier sternite abdominal couvert de pubescence argentée - la longueur respective des élytres (dépassant les cavités coxales pour la femelle, plus courts pour le mâle) - reflets bleus plus ou moins étendus, sternites à moitié noirs, etc |
