I deduce from the original description (Pascoe,1864: 287) that this tends to agree with X. erosa based on the colour of the specimen; median groove on the pronotum; punctation of head & pronotum; concavity of scutellum; and granulation on the elytra; but does not (always) have the three longitudinal raised lines on the elytra ( as in the above example where only two are present). Others have a distinctly darker pronotum. Have also noted that the size is very variable (16 - 38 mm) with a mean average length of 26 - 28 mm based on a series of ~ 40 specimens.
