Some databases say Callichromatini, others Compsocerini. The original descriptions and texts by Bates, Aurivillius, did range the genus among Callichromatini.
Callichromatini have closed procoxal cavities; in Mombasius, they are wide open - a major character for Compsocerini.

Compsocerini tribe: genus Mombasius Bates, 1879.
Most probably Mombasius aeneipes Auriwillius, 1913 (male).
